When I went to bed yesterday and checked the weather report words like sunny, reasonably warm and partly cloudy were mentioned.  When I woke up this morning and looked outside words like pouring rain, fall and angry clouds seemed more appropriate. Look, it’s an annoying Dutch habit complaining about the weather and on the whole I don’t have much to complain about, cause hello, I’m in New York remember? But I’m going to do it anyway, because I feel like it.

It has been raining all day long. Showing up at an appointment looking presentable is mission impossible, my hair is frizzy and is going vertical and then there’s the outfit problem. Last week when I checked the weather report (you know I have been obsessively engaged with the weather) it said 30 degrees and sunny, very much summer. WELL, NO-O! My suitcase was packed with summer wear, which is now totally useless, and I’m suffering from a warm clothes shortage. A good excuse to shop, but still, I would have preferred otherwise.

Anyhow, my Tuesday started off with an appointment at a wonderful New York PR-office on Broadway, right in the middle of Soho. After that I walked around the block to Suitsupply, my friend Nish works there and I had promised to meet up for coffee and lunch. After a grand tour of the office (fantastically dazzling) and a visit to the Suit School (where potential new employees are trained in tailoring) part of ‘the crew’ and I headed towards a little Mexicano a few blocks down. A place you would simply skip if you had no idea how great their food is.

After that my schedule was empty until five pm, that’s when I had another meeting planned and after that it was drinks with Kirsten from Suitsupply. So I felt like filling up those empty hours with some typing in a café or cozy restaurant. The rain was really coming down hard but the first place I reached had no Wi-Fi, the second wouldn’t allow me to sit down without ordering food and the third was full. Meanwhile I was drenched to the bone so I gave up and walked over to Le Pain Quotidien. Fine of course but Starbucks. I finished my articles for the coming days and was at the point of calling myself dry when my first appointment cancelled. I’ve had it with being cold and I cancelled Kirsten and got myself on the subway to my hotel.

What does a wet and cold person want? A cinema. That’s where I went. I saw Entourage the movie and given the opportunity, I strongly recommend everyone to see it. Especially when you’ve totally absorbed the TV-series.  Tomorrow they promise sunshine, looking forward to that. What else I’m up to will be revealed in the next diary. Like Bill would say: ‘Bye children!’
