The 7 reasons we’re in love with ellie goulding
Last week I was in London and as you might have read, my schedule was packed with a bunch of cool activities and I was running around town from one appointment to the next. My Saturday was completely dedicated to my interview with Ellie Goulding, a private dinner and to top it off, an intimate concert. I want you to know that this caused for quite a bit of research stress and wardrobe panic. Before I jetted off to London I dived into the world that is Ellie Goulding because if I’m being completely honest, her name didn’t really ring a bell.
Clearly I had been living on a different planet because after a bit of YouTubing, I definitely knew a thing or two about her. I could easily sing along to songs like Lights and Burn, but I had been completely unaware that these chart toppers were Ellie’s. But anyway, last weekend I transformed from humble restrained fan into a shameless groupie. And here’s why:
Singing, songs and atmosphere
Alright, so I’m going to kick this off with the core of what Ellie Goulding is all about: this girl can sing. First of all she writes most of her songs by herself but she also belts them out flawlessly and hits those high pitches completely unblemished. Now I know what you might be thinking, on the radio things might be edited, but let me tell you, even live this girl was impeccable. I keep going through all the video’s I took of her thirty times or so to see if I can detect a false note. None. Nada. Zero.
Stunning
Absolutely stunning. I was given fifteen minutes to interview her and I’m surprised I even managed to vocalize anything because all I wanted to do was sit and stare at her. Her makeup may have been done by the best makeup artists from M.A.C Cosmetics but I’m sure that even without an ounce of foundation she goes through life looking absolutely beautiful.
Best of both worlds
Usually it terrifies me when someone has two different personas. It usually makes people very unpredictable. But not with Ellie. During our interview and dinner she was so down to Earth and sweet and showed a ton of interest in everyone that was there. And then in the evening she turned into an energetic rock and roll stage animal. Oh, and before I forget, during dinner she even took the time to thank everyone for coming and told us that she had had a lovely day. How cool is she?! And so gained even more points in her coolness ranking.
Energy
Ellie woke up that day, spent 7 hours doing interviews, recording videos, laughed with us press people and sincerely answered all of our questions. After which she got suited up in another sensational ensemble and joined us for dinner. And once dinner was over, she spent half an hour on stage performing some of her biggest its. I applaud her. Her energy levels are skyrocketing.
All-rounder
Together with a few other press people, we spent half an hour gazing at the stage and there was absolutely nothing we could find about Ellie that we didn’t like. She was already perfect and we were sure it couldn’t get any more perfect than perfect until she pulled out a guitar and even showed off some of her drumming skills. Seriously how? How does she do it?
Incredibly kind
Sounds pretty straight to the point. She’s very graceful. Not even an ounce of drama queen to be detected. You will never catch her demanding liters of Evian, rose scented candles and a dozen of white roses for backstage. Nope. Just your traditional one-of-the-guy’s type of girl.
M.A.C Cosmetics makeup collection
As if she isn’t busy already, she even designed a new makeup collection with M.A.C Cosmetics. It won’t be released until next year, so until then, my lips are sealed. But let’s just say, if you’re as obsessed with the nude look as I am, then this collection is going to make your heart flutter.
So all in all, Ellie has stolen my heart (and countless of others). Count me in on her list of groupies cause I too love makeup, I love to sing (extremely off tune but hey, we can’t have it all) and I’m always down for fun conversations. So Ellie, let’s meet up again soon. I can’t wait!
