The braid-club
Last season we saw lots of loose braids, and they couldn’t be wild or undone enough. This year we’re going for high and tight. Especially high, because every braid that matters this season is on top of the head in an arty, sleek shape.
It makes me think just a little bit of before. When my mother plaited my hair back tightly on holiday so it wouldn’t bother me during play. Small point of contention was that my scalp then needed to be smeared in with suncream because it used to burn in-between the plaits. And it makes me think of sporty girls who wear lots of braids in their hair.

Back to the trend. Seen at Armani, Gaultier and Alexander Knox. Hair in sections, braided tightly backwards with extremely straight partings. Not your thing? Don’t worry, because at shows like Aganovich and Aigner, lots of plaits have been used, and then all over the head like a kind of hat. The braid is then rubbed out at the ends so it looks voluminous.
I’m sure you can manage it yourself. If you understand the technique that is. If you’ve figured it out, here is a tutorial to help you create a fabulous look like the models at Armani and Gaultier.
