Man candy

for a good cause

This month is all about the c-word. Although it’s an ongoing battle and not one we can just stuff in a box and leave to dust for the remaining 11 months, the entire month of October has been dedicated to raising awareness for this disease: cancer.

Aside from breast cancer, there is another cancer form that highly effects the female population: ovarian cancer, or actually any form of gynecological cancer. Aka a silent killer since this form is often discovered too late.

There are always various forms of awareness programs and affairs to raise money for research and cures, from charity dinners and raffles to marathons and other competitions.

The founder and director of the Amsterdam based modeling agencies Touché Models and Future Faces Freek Koster, who battled with the disease twenty years ago, decided to come up with a new way to raise awareness. What makes women the happiest? Men of course. And so he grabbed a bunch of good looking men out of his storage and shot a scrumptious calendar full of them. Well if this isn’t the most honest form of female emancipation.

All the proceeds (and that’s not something you hear too often) are going to the Ruby and Rose foundation. Now I know what you’re thinking, it’s a Dutch foundation, it might not be interesting for other countries, but guys, a calendar full of good looking fella’s and it’s all for a good cause. It’s a win-win situation.

The calendar will be for sale soon. Check out rubyandrose.com for all the information (and use a bit of Google translate if necessary)
