WHAT TO DO WITH MELONS
Yes we’re all into melons again. Watermelons, cantaloupes, galia melons; they all make me happy I don’t care what kind. You know the trick right? You have to smell the bottom before you buy one to see if it really smells of melon. If it does it’s ripe. Delicious with fresh streaks of Parma ham (you could even put the melon under the grill), a drop of olive oil, a good ball of Mozzarella and you have the best summer dish ever.
Pink smoothie (very sturdy, so perfect for breakfast)
What do you need?
half a banana
handful of blueberries
large piece of watermelon
big spoonful of Greek Yoghurt or quark
teaspoon of flaxseed oil (good for bowel movement!)
Put all the ingredients into the blender and blend. Pour into a glass and you’re done.
Salad
You might think; strange combination but watermelon and feta go really well together. Cut both into little cubes and put them in a bowl. Add some Rocket, a little olive oil, salt and pepper and put your summer salad on the table.
Melon granita
Oh, this is so my favorite. Blend a melon to pulp in your blender (you can pick any melon you like). Add some limejuice, coconut water, mint and for the real daredevil: some lavender. Put everything into a tub and put in the freezer. After half an hour you scrape it all loose again and put it back. After 4 hours it’s done. It takes a little work. And if you want your guests to go bananas add a shot of vodka. But you probably already thought of that yourself.
