Here’s where the fashion set sleeps
There was a time; I’m on the topic of city trips, that I believed: “Oh. The hotel, essentially doesn’t matter, we just sleep there so let’s go cheap.” That, after numerous wakeup calls, is a huge misconception. The place you stay at whether it be an AirBNB or a hotel is responsible for 50% of the success rate of your trip. In New York we rented this great loft on Park Avenue through AirBNB and in London we stayed in one of the most beautiful hotels in the city both enormously contributing to the happiness of the human race. Fashion people know this, they always reside in the most glamorous hotels in the city. And the funny part is that these are often the same hotels, fashion people like to stick together. If you are visiting Fashion Week in one of the fashion cities that Amayzine visits as well? Patrol past the doors of these hotels and I’ll bet you’ll see a whole army of street-stylers pass you by.
This is one of those hotels that alienate the standard hotel rules regarding interior terms, and just do what they feel like doing. A cylinder shaped aquarium in the lobby, chesterfields in the lounge and a portrait gallery for an 18th century feel. It’s like a cabinet of curiosities that’s put together very well. A rooftop with pool and a prominent bar and of course there’s those glorious rooms. Linda Tol, Shea Marie and Caroline Vreeland all agree. You’ll find all the hip bloggers in this hotel along with other street style favorites. You won’t be short of outfit-inspiration.
For years Le Meurice was the absolute highest-ranking fashion hotel in Paris. Anna Wintour for example along with her other Vogue-editors didn’t even give other hotels a second glance because Le Meurice was their fixed hangout. Mario Testino and Alber Elbaz liked to come here. But everything changed when the hotel fell into the hands of the sultan van Brunei, a not very pleasant man with medieval and barbaric sentiments. A worldwide boycott followed; lead on by Brian Atwood and Saint Laurent, the press couldn’t stop writing about it. We just have to wait and see where the fashion elite will check in, we know it won’t be Le Meurice. Maybe Le Bristol makes a good chance. Just as classy and much loved by fashion girls.
