Where to find the prettiest bridal gowns

IN NEW YORK.

From an idyllic fairytale in Sweden to a sea of roses in the Netherlands, and then straight to an unforgettable a thousand-and-one-nights wedding with at least two-thousand-and-one candles in Marocco. A dream. That pretty much sums up our last summer. The season of weddings. A.k.a. our weddingcation.

But all those romantic events, which even got me teary eyed a time or two, have a downside. At least for me they do, since I’m next. And all I keep asking myself is: how the hell am I going to arrange all of this? What do I want? Do I want an uncountable amount of candles, dozens of roses, a violinist and a pool full of flamingo’s? These are only a few of the 1001 other ideas that have been swirling through my head. There are so many things I like and my head is full of lists from wedding planners to magazines, all which make me even more stressed out. According to them, I’m three steps behind in the process. The guest list including everyone’s address’ should have already been added into an Excel document on my laptop, I should have already booked a location and be in contact with a photographer. Excuse me?

Breathe in, breathe out. First things first. And the ‘first’ thing for any bride who loves fashion: the dress. Will it be a Galia? Berta? Pronovias? Or something more timeless like Delphine? I don’t know. But what I do know is where I need to be in New York. Places like Kleinfeld or Saks Bridal. I’ve listed some of the best bridal boutiques in the city: from Israeli va-va-voom designs to vintage lace princess gowns.

‘Breath in, breath out. First things first.’

Stone Fox Bride

Crowned the “Best Anti-Bridezilla Bridal Showroom in New York” by The New York Times. Stone Fox is known for their flower wreaths, bohemian brides in fluttering silk gowns and vintage veils. As they say: ‘No fluff, no puff,’ just ‘insanely cool.’ And I can’t help but agree.

Alon Livne White

Alon Livne is a wonder child when it comes to bridal design and has worked for people like Alexander Wang and he was also the winner of the Israeli ‘Project Runway.’ Glamourous and refined. And it has a bit of sex appeal too, but not too much. Find his designs at the Mark Ingram Atelier, a very chic boutique in the Upper East Side alongside big names like Oscar de la Rente and Jenny Packham.

Delphine Manivet

Paris meets New York at Delphine Manivet. Her designs are super elegant, dreamy and timeless. Her motto is “the dress should be a girl’s only make-up” so I’m sure you understand that Delphine’s designs are gold.

‘How the hell am I going to arrange all of this? What do I want?’

Daughters of Simone

Daughters of Simone is a true nirvana for bohemian brides. Romantic vintage with a touch of rebellion. Run by two sisters who were raised by the ultimate “flower children.” Perfect if you’re looking for a less traditional dress.

Carol Hannah

Carol Hannah’s swirling goddess gowns are very fairytale-esque. From hand made beaded patterns to nontraditional powdery colors. Picture perfect!

Pronovias

The dressing rooms are almost as big as some of the stores here in NY. But that too fits the glamourous bridal gown brand. The Spanish Pronovias is already quite a well known label, albeit through their bizarre fashion shows with world famous models. Their gigantic flagship store can be found in the Upper East Side.

L’Fay

L’Fay is more in line with places like Kleinfeld and Saks. And although I was planning on avoiding these kinds of all-round stores, I couldn’t help but not drop by L’Fay. The reason? Berta Bridal. I am mesmerized by everything of theirs I come across. And I’m not the only one. They’ve got roughly 800 thousand followers on Instagram, making Berta one of the most popular bridal Insta’s. The lace, the sexy vibe… Oh Berta how you thrill me. And only available at L’Fay in New York.
