4 reasons why a cold shower is good for you

For me to properly wake up in the morning, I need to take a shower. But no way in hell am I going to turn that nob to a colder temperature.  I prefer my showers hot and as long as possible. Still not entirely awake? I’ll throw some cold water in my face. However, apparently I’ve been doing it all wrong since instead of throwing a bit of cold water in my face, I should end my shower by being soaked in cold water. And here is why:

  • You’ll be wake within seconds. It’ll give you an immediate boost of energy.
  • If you always end your showers with cold water, your body will get used to different temperatures which is good for your immune system. It’ll be easier for you to adapt to the weather when it’s cold in the winter and warm in the summer.
  • Cold water narrows your blood vessels. Your blood pressure will rise and the pumping of blood will be ‘stronger’ throughout your body. Cold shower over? Then your blood pressure will decrease again, but the strong circulation will maintain. And…this will help avoid cellulite.
  • Your skin likes cold water. It’ll make you look more radiant and your skin more elastic. Hot water dries out your skin.
