hold onto your SNORKEL

These 5 locations have the clearest waters

The first time I went snorkeling it was all but fun. I was on Crete which A: is an awful place to see something under water and B: I had a panic attack. Some part of my brain struggled understanding that people were capable of breathing underwater with the right equipment.

I spent years trying to get used to snorkeling , and last year I decided it was time to do something about it. It was time to face my panic fear of water, so my boy and I took a private diving course in Curaçao. Even though I’m terrified of deep waters. Sharks. Jellyfish. Short of breath. Panic. Pretty much everything that has something to do with the ocean. I ended up spending forty-five minutes at -12 meters without looking up at the top of the ocean once. Once I was back at the top I evidently spent three hours talking about how unbelievable cool the whole experience was.

So for all your snorkel and diving fans: YASSSS, I finally understand the thrill of it all. Hence the reason I’ve decided to write about all the magical areas all over the world with the clearest oceans. You ready?

1. Great Barrier Reef, Australia

This is the biggest and most well known coral reef in the world. It’s approximately 334 thousand square meters with 2900 different types of coral life. According to snorkel and diving fans, this is the BEST place in the world.

2. Bora Bora – French-Polynesia

Yehesss, this is paradise on earth where a bunch of pro soccer players tend to take their girls on holiday treats. And a regular spot to see the Kardashians. The island consists of a reef surrounded by a laguna and my god, the water is so crystal clear that you’re going to think this shit is fake.

3. The Maldives

This place is on the top of my wish list but my god the price tag that comes with it is insane. The group of islands consist of 1190 coral islands and every single one of them is STUNNING. Always wanted to swim with massive manatees and whale sharks? This is the place to be.

4. Palawan – Philippines

I’ve written about this place before and how for two consecutive years it’s been named the prettiest island in the world. With the prettiest coral. Give Google a shot. You’ll fall in love. A bunch of seasons of Expedition Robinson were shot here, and if you want to find Nemo (or Dory), odd are, this is where they’ll be.

5. Egypt

I’ve been lucky enough to check out Egypt’s coral reef myself. Especially the Red Sea area is a hit. And the water stays warm and clear all year round. An absolute must: bring a GoPro to capture all the underwater treasures.
