5 SKINNY DRINKS FOR THE SUMMER
Holy shhhh. It’s hot out. At least it is where I am and I checked out the weather forecast in New York and it looks like people in the Big Apple are dealing with some boiling temperatures too. And with warm weather comes chilly drinks. But when you’re trying to watch your weight, then cocktails aren’t uh, a smart move. A Cosmopolitan is alright calorie wise (sort of, 200…) but seriously, people, don’t go for the two Piña Colada’s (460 calories) because no way will you achieve that six pack.
The summer drinks you can slurp on without feeling guilty? I’m here to tell you all about them.
1. Vodka – sparkling water
One of the most responsible choices when it comes to mixed drinks. Sparkling water = zero calories. One shot of vodka contains around 60 and so when you mix it with sparkling water, you get a skinny cocktail. Add a lot of lemon or lime and drink a max total of two.
2. Prosecco with raspberries
Staying in line with alcoholic beverages, then prosecco is another good idea. It’s festive, only contains 77 calories and you can fluff up your glass by adding some raspberries. Even cava and champagne are good on the calorie thermometer, so ditch the sweet shit and go for the bubbles.
3. Homemade green ice tea
Want to be even more responsible? Skip alcohol altogether and go for homemade green ice tea. Complicated? Not at all. Take one liter of boiled water, leave it out for ten minutes and then put two bags of green tea into it. Once the water has soaked in the green tea, add a shot of lemon juice, lime juice and a bit of honey. Hardly any calories and great for your picnic basket.
4. Sherry
It’s not like the sherry diet just popped up out of nowhere. If you happen to enjoy dry wine, then sherry is the one with the least amount of calories. You can drink four of these instead of one Cosmopolitan.
5. Sparkling Pear
A cool cocktail that’s still somewhat skinny. Puree half a pear until it’s liquid form and pour it into a champagne glass. Then add twho shots of sparkling wine, mix it and top it off with a slice of pear. Works with peaches too.
