5 ways to rock a high bun

I’m a big fan of the bun. The only problem is turns into a ‘gym bun’ real fast (think: a quick and tightly wrapped bun on the head) and creating a ballerina style bun is pretty hard to do.

To help you along with this trend (because buns are IT this summer), we’ve looked up some buns for you. They look like works of art, but they’re done in under two minutes. Easy peasy.

1. Half up with a ponytail

First we had the half-bun, where the bun is on top of the head and the rest of the hair falls around it. Now it has become the half-tail; a mix between the bun and a pony tail. You let the rest of the hair hang loose. Etro shows us how to not make it look like you forgot half your hair in the process. They do it very stylish; you smooth it out with the help of some hairspray and gel.

2. The nonchalant donut

There’s no need for Styrofoam with this look. We’ve been over the perfect donut bun for a while now. It’s more important to let the donut look like it’s run its course. Pull out some strands of hair, let some parts hang loose and you have a donut that’s past its expiration date, which actually makes it look very in the now. And that’s how it should be.

3. The accessory

If your bun is a bit off, you can easily upgrade it with an accessory. Applicable even when it looks nice already. Think of nice hair ties, cute pins or ribbons that you work into the bun.

4. The gym bun 2.0

The gym bun isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You just need to create it with some extra care, so it doesn’t fall out in two seconds. Prep your hair with a good mousse and a bit of salt spray so everything stays up. The n you just make a nonchalant bun, pull out bits and pieces and finish with that same salt spray. Need some inspo? Talke a loot at J. Crew’s summer series.

5. The wet look bun

This look might be a good idea for when you’ve actually hit the gym. This hairdo dries up quickly of course, so again it’s a good idea to use some beach sprays and gels to make the wetlook last longer.
