6 LESSONS IN STYLE FROM VICTORIA BECKHAM
If there was one closet which could immediately be transported into that of my own, it would be Victoria Beckham’s. Although she can leave out those strapless dresses of hers – not a huge fan of those. If David accidentally gets wrapped up in one of the suitcases, then it would be rude not to take him in as well, right? There’s always an intern around willing to take care of him.
Until then I’ve come up with a list to recreate Victoria’s wardrobe, so hereby a few lessons we can all learn from this fashion maven.
1. A white button up as a base
If you’re struggling trying to figure out what to wear in the morning, opt for a pair of trousers that doesn’t have too tight of a fit and combine it with a good pair of heels and an oversized white button up shirt. Make sure the buttons are closed no further than breast height to avoid looking frumpy. Hair in a tight ponytail, sunglasses on, envelop clutch in hand and your business look will be complete.
2. Oversized blazers for business attire
You can describe Victoria’s style as sexy business attire. Because of her slim figure (yes, even Vic needs to put a lot of effort into maintaining it because an interviewer once asked her: If your life would be a movie, what would the title be? And she replied: The Hunger Games) she never looks frumpy and aloof. The key to oversized blazers is that you wear them as a coat. Preferably draped over your shoulders, but when they are really oversized, Victoria wears it they way they were intended; arms in the sleeves.
3. Accentuate the waist
Now I know what you’re thinking: you’d do the same if you had Victoria’s build, but I can’t help but disagree. Even if you weigh more than fifty kilo’s you’ve still got a waist. A horizontal stripe or a thick belt around your waist is going to accentuate your hourglass figure. Even more so if you wear a pencil skirt like Victoria does.
4. Shoulders, shoulders, shoulders
Victoria symbolizes power and power is easily exuded by wearing something with a bold shoulders. Victoria is in love with her blazers where the shoulders are pointed a little more upright. It’s feminine, makes you look slim and powerful.
5. It doesn’t always have to be tight
Victoria in skinny jeans is nothing new. Especially with a twelve centimeter pair of Louboutins and a blazer draped around her shoulders, but Victoria is also a woman who loves oversized sweaters and will wear them with long pleated skirts and wide fitted dresses. Ample is rich and when you’re as slim as Vicky is, it won’t make you look plump either.
6. Wrap a belt around it
Just like Olivia Palermo, Victoria knows that a belt makes every outfit a lot more fun. On tight dresses, around your blazer and even one around your winter coat. Long story short, a belt is always a good idea.
