6 X the button up
but then different
If there is one thing you should invest in this sprint (besides low cut cowboy boots, the negligé dress and a striped hat) then it is a good button up shirt. Crispy white, denim or a striped one: buy it, and wear it a bunch of different ways.
1. classic
Tucked into your pants. Always works.
2. Casual and very now
The front tucked into your pants, the back hanging loose. Combine it with baggy jeans and a pair of leopard printed ballet flats and you’re ready for the spring.
3. the wrong way round
Spotted this in New York this past summer. A girl was wearing her button up the wrong way round so that the buttons were on her back instead of her chest. Not fully closed on the back, so she had a bit of a low V. Just make sure you’ve got someone around to help you unbutton it…
4. oblique
I saw this on Net-A-Porter. Put your arm into one sleeve and then turn your shirt so that the buttons are on your side rather than the front. Then use the loose sleeve as a belt. Tie the sleeve and the loose end of the shirt together. Fun and flirty.
5. As a dress
Button up the collar and put it around your breasts. Use the sleeves as a belt around your ribcage. Beach look 3.0.
6. the good old belly twist
Denim shorts and a button up. Roll up your sleeves and tie the two front ends of the shirt together so that a hint of your belly is showing. Do it. Even if you’re not doing stomach crunches every day.
