7 BEAUTY MISTAKES WE ALL MAKE
When it comes to make-up, you can never stop learning. My parents have a photo of me in their home and every time I see it I can’t help but be ashamed of my old beauty habits. Over-plucking my eyebrows and a foundation that was completely a different shade than the actual color of my skin. I’m sure it sounds familiar. Now that I’m older I’ve expanded my knowledge when it comes to make up (at least the photos are starting to look a lot better), but there are still a couple o things I need to keep an eye out for.
1. Chunks of mascara on your lashes
We all want to obtain those huge Bambi eyes but it makes us rather careless when it comes to putting on mascara because we have the tendency to put on to much. Result? Chunky lashes that look like they’re glued together. Take the time with your lashes and buy a good mascara that gives you volume. Just don’t overuse it.
2. Wrong color foundation
Story of my life. I’ll look in the mirror and think to myself, “my skin has never looked so flawless.” Then I set one foot out the door, see my reflection and shriek because I look like an Oompa Loempa. Don’t test the color of your foundation on your hand. Test it on your jaw. Then you’ll know whether you’ve got the right color or not.
3. Over-plucking your eyebrows
If you’re still guilty of doing this then clearly you haven’t read this post, but I’m sure back in the day you were an extreme plucking fanatic. At least I was, and I’m still dealing with the consequences. I threw my tweezer out the window and decided to stick to eyebrow pencils and powders to make sure it all looks in line with today’s trends.
4. Contouring in all the wrong places
Guilty. It’s an art to get this right. We don’t all have glam squad’s like Kim Kardashian. It’s all down to practice. Practice makes perfect.
5. Concealer crush
Concealer is something that has to be a constant staple in your bag. It’ll miraculously get rid of any lack of sleep you’ve had. Just make sure you don’t overuse it. Sometimes we get a little too enthusiastic which only makes us highlight and accentuate everything more rather than hide it and that’s definitely not what you want.
6. Glitter
Using highlighters and bronzer’s you’ll give your face a better dimension. It gives your face that extra bit of shine and highlights your best qualities. The only downside – which makes sense if you apply it in your own bathroom – its that you don’t see it as well as others do so you might put on more than you should. So before you know it, you’ll leave your house looking like a mobile disco ball.
7. Too much lip
You would think that because of Kylie Jenner, you can never ever overdo your lips. But a mistake that unfortunately gets made a little too often is that people smear on way too much. Kylie Jenner lips are fine, but if you overdo it you’re going to end up looking like a clown. Use a lip liner, stay in the lines, and you’ll be fine.
