Help! There’s a dress code on my wedding invite
Last week I covered all the deets about the tenue de soirée, cravate noir and the venue de villa. Also known as, the stricter dress codes of all dress codes. Because as fun as it might be when a wedding invite lands on your doorstep, the dress code can cause a whole lot of what to wear-stress. Same when you’ve got smart casual, summer chic or smart casual on the invite. Don’t stress: today I’m going to tell you about the rules to the dress codes and I’m sure you’ll have no problem at all purchasing the perfect look. You ready?
Cocktail
The hunt to the perfect party dress (also known as a cocktail dress) can start. And fair is fair lady’s, shopping, isn’t that something we’re all really good at? For this dress code it’s okay if you want to go for a bit of sex appeal, but don’t over do it. Either go for a low cut in the front, or a low back or the off shoulder look. Because too much bare skin is not very chic.

Summer chic
Not entirely crazy that when you think of summer chic you think of a formal dress code with a summery touch. But it’s wrong. It’s actually the other way around. It’s a dress code in which summer clothing gets glammed up. So put on your prettiest summer dress and style it with cool jewelry and accessories and you’re ready to go!

New York chic
Does your wedding invite state New York chic? It’s time to start saving up. This dress code requires a designer dress. The idea is that you can wear anything that’s hip and happening, as long as there is a chic designer name attached to the label. Smart casual
This dress code is more right smack dab in the middle of formal and informal. It’s simple, but it’s elegant. Go for a pretty dress and top it off with cool accessories and heels. The dress code can be interpreted in many different ways, but that doesn’t mean you can show up wearing a pair of jeans. The difference between casual chic and casual smart is small. Generally speaking, casual chic is a little more of a classic look with less bold jewelry and accessories.
