ThE DO’S AND DON’TS OF GLASSES AND HAIRSTYLES
I recently started wearing glasses. It’s been a bit of an adjustment. Finding the right pair alone was quite the quest because it needed to be suitable for different outfits as well as hairstyles. It wasn’t until I headed to the hair dresser that I realized that however I decided to get my hair trimmed would also effect what I looked like now that I sport glasses. It might sound odd but you really have to think things through and that’s why after doing my research, I came across a list do’s and don’ts regarding hair and glasses that I want to share with you.
The hairstyle
Rule number 1. Don’t forget to take your glasses with you when you’re heading to a salon. Even if you only wear them when you’re in the car or at work. You want to find the ultimate match because with them one, you can’t help but look a little different. A simple pair of glasses? Then you can ‘go all out’ when it comes to your hair. A bolder pair? Great too, but try to keep your hairstyle more tamed. Volume is fun, but together the two might be too much. Try to balance it out. Take a fringe for example. They work well with subtler frames whereas a bolder pair might be too forceful on the face.
Hair color
Before I continue, I just want to put it out there that I definitely wouldn’t call myself a glasses guru. Let alone an optician. But I do believe that some frame colors look better with certain hair colors. Dark and metal frames would look good with brown hair for example. And when you’ve got blonde hair, then light and transparent frames will suit you best. Redheads are the lucky ones of the bunch because they can easily pull off bright colored frames, except for white and yellow.
Styling your hair
The golden rule is of course to keep everything balanced out. And obviously you have to stick to a hair style you personally like best. When you wear glasses, you already know what the center of attention of your face is. But having the right hair style can divide the attention, bringing a good balance. What it comes down to is what you want to emanate. It has to represent your character, so you have to stick to decisions that represent you. Short hair looks great with practically any frame and having your hair layered is great too.
