How film makers fool us
Because these were all just really filmed in Canada
I kind of have a thing for all that eye candy being produced in Canada: Justin Bieber, Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, prime minister Justin Trudeau and his puppy face, and the list goes on. Plus, there is so much more that’s been made in Canada that you probably don’t even know about. Like a couple of movie classics that you would have never believed and now I feel entirely fooled by the movie industry so I looked them all up for you.
1. Mean Girls
Holy crap. Here’s one I didn’t see coming. I thought this typical ‘American’ North Shore High School was in Illinois, right outside of Chicago? Nope, filmed in Canada. Fun fact: the Canadian Playboy mansion that Regina George lived in is on the market for a lousy 12 million dollars.
2. White Chicks
Okay, so the opening scene might have been filmed in New York to throw off the viewers, but the rest of the movie really was filmed in Canada. And uhh, we’re all aware that the sisters Brittany and Tiffany Wilson were based on Paris and Nicky Hilton, right? “What a beautiful chocolate man. Ah-ha-ha-ha.”
3. Suits
Might not be a movie, but definitely one of my favorite shows of the moment. Same story here: the pilot was filmed in the city that never sleeps. But the rest of the Pearson Hardman law firm adventures? All filmed in Toronto.
4. Brokeback Mountain
Those. Breathtaking. Nature. Scenes. If you don’t know this movie (which would be utterly deserved because it took home an Oscar), I suggest you watch it. The scenery is meant to be America, but filmed in, yeah, you guessed it…
5. The Notebook
My favorite movie. Now and forever. I always sob, I always yell at my TV screen that Noah and Allie need to get back together and the boat scene with all the geese in the water makes me weak in the knees. Guys, if this is Canada, then I’m going to immigrate. I’m not kidding.
