The best face masks out of your kitchen cabinets
It’s the ultimate ‘me-time‘ and if you’ve got a girls night in planned, you know what to do: facials. This used to be a standard activity when my friends and I would spend an evening hanging out. Face masks (the brighter the better), watch rom-coms and snack on chips. So back to the mask. Not only is it fun and hilarious to document on Instagram, it’s also great for your skin. Although when I was younger, I didn’t really realize this aspect of face masks, but now I know better. Sometimes my face screams for a good face mask. And guess what, everything you need is right there in your kitchen. Winning.
The famous honey and yoghurt mask
Ingredients: one teaspoon of honey and tea spoon of yoghurt.
For who: This is a face mask that works for everyone. It gives your skin nutrients it needs and works on all skin types. Rinse it off after about fifteen minutes and your face will be soft and radiant.
How to make it: Mix the teaspoon of honey and the teaspoon of yoghurt. When you’ve got really dry skin, add an extra bit of honey. Or is your skin really greasy? Add a couple drops of lime juice to your mask (it absorbs the fat).
The refreshing cucumber effect
Ingredients: a quarter of peeled cucumber, a teaspoon of honey and a drip of yoghurt.
For who: Everyone who needs a bit of relaxation. Or when you’re dealing with dull skin (due to a lack of sleep for example), then this is your way to crank it up.
How to make it: put the cucumber and honey in a blender. If it’s too liquidy because of the water in the cucumber, then add some yoghurt and you’re good to go. Smear it onto your face, let it absorb for fifteen minutes and rinse it off with cold water.
Banana girl
Ingredients: Sounds clear to me. Banaaaaaaanas. To make a nice little fruit blend, add some oranges and a drip of honey. Honey is always a good idea.
For who: Ladies with dry skin will appreciate this. It softens it as well as makes it more moist. Plus, it’s also a great way to try and avoid wrinkles.
How to make it: mash the banana and add the honey (a teaspoon is enough). For an extra vitamin C boost, squeeze in some orange juice.
Bye bye foul skin
Ingredients: three carrots and three teaspoons of honey.
For who: If you suffer from blemishes on your skin, this mask will do wonders for your skin. I’m not saying it will get rid of the blemishes immediately, but it will definitely be a start.
How to make it: Cook the carrots and puree them. Then add the honey and mix it until it becomes somewhat of a thick substance. Leave it on your skin for fifteen minutes then rinse it with cold water.
For all sun worshippers
Ingredients: one cup of yoghurt (as cold as possible), four tablespoons of oatmeal and a quarter of a cucumber and an egg.
For who: For everyone who spent a little bit too long in the sun and turned bright red. Not a nice feeling. Your skin needs rest and that’s what it’ll get when you use this mask.
How to make it: Mix all of the ingredients in a blender. All you need is the egg white from the egg.
