Our girl Bo decided to switch coasts for a few days, but here’s what’s been keeping her busy in New York before she hopped on the plane…
With a bowl full of sushi in one hand and a bottle of diet coke in the other (I know, I know, extremely unhealthy but I can’t live without it) we headed on up the the 48th floor of my friend M’s apartment. The first time ever. Which is bizarre actually since she’s been living in the city for as long as I’ve known her. But this ultimate New York rooftop is one we hadn’t yet hung out on. Until today. Since the weather took a turn for the better, we figured it would be a smart idea to work outside for a change. The first 20 minutes we pretended to be productive, but the combination of the sun, sushi and a view of the Empire is very counter productive and led to a full iPhone photo shoot. We went downstairs to get a bottle of wine, and all those e-mails that we were meant to go through? We’ll just leave them for tomorrow.
And suddenly you find yourself in SoHo wearing a coat that’s actually too warm for the weather and so you walk around rather annoyed carrying the thing around under your arm…
Not even 24 hours later and you find yourself wrapped up in a fur jacket (polyester of course). This is New York.
A bunch of pretty flowers and a photo my mother sent to me. Both nothing uncommon. My mom has a thing for taking photos of photos and sending them to me. Every week I can expect a grainy iPhone 5 photo of pictures of me as a baby and such (yes she misses me). But this time around she ditched the photos of me with Nutella smeared all over my face, and sent me a photo of a Grazia feature. My mom was proud. And so was I.
My friend N is pregnant. For the past 20 weeks a tiny little mini baby has been growing in her belly. And we finally met up. On the left you’ll spot her decaf cappuccino and on the right, my green tea.
We met up at Cafe Clover. The super cozy restaurant with a really cool interior and great menu and atmosphere. Now it seems like the place in abandoned in this top photo, but it’s because we were hanging out here right before the staff was having dinner to get ready for their evening run – which is something exceptional here in New York and their ‘no rush’ mentality really means, no rush.
Just a quick remark: how can you ever get bored of this view? Obviously I miss my home country every now and then but New York has really become my home. And I don’t ever want to leave…
The best part of my week happened here. For everyone who’s been keeping up with all my updates out of the city, you’ll know that one of my best friends is located in San Francisco and the two of us always fly back and forth to meet up when one of our guys is outta town. So when her man is off on a business trip? I head over to San Fran. When my guy is on a company trip? My friend MJ heads over to New York. However this time around, neither of our guys is out of the city and she actually has no idea I’m heading over. Why? She’s turning 30 in a couple of days and I’m heading her way to surprise her. Together with her hubby we organized this surprise tip and while she spends the night at a Justin Bieber concert with friends, I sneak into her home and can’t wait for her to get back.
And off we go! Flying during sunset, always a fairytale.
