My 90’s youth was dominated by awful videoclips on MTV. I would spend hoooours watching and listening to R&B hits from Christina Milian, Alicia Keys and Ashanti. Mixed with a bit of Avril Lavigne and Hilary Duff. But as everyone knows in the music industry: not everyone makes the cut.

So, in honor of those we lost, a selection of five of the coolest women we secretly can’t help but miss.

1. JoJo

I always thought she was the coolest kid on the block. I was obsessed. The American girl next door with her oh so cool video about love. Jojo for fuck sake, where are you? I miss you.

2. Stacie Orrico

Another obsession of mine: Stace. Her hits ‘Stuck’ and ‘There’s gotta be more to life’ mixed with her latina looks and beauty mark: I loved all of it. Nowadays Stacie isn’t really considered cool anymore. Her (music) career died down. As in: Stacie, you and I have nearly the same amount of Instagram followers? What?

3. t.A.T.u.

These Russian chicks broke through as the wet dream for all men and (lesbian) women around the globe. This clip, guys. Making out next to a gate, rain, everything. Apparently the two girls aren’t really on friendly terms anymore. Shame.

4. Kat DeLuna
