THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER ASK A WOMAN WHO IS SINGLE

Single shaming is something that is still very much in full swing and it is usually done in the most subtle ways possible. The person asking the question isn’t necessarily trying to be malicious but the person in question isn’t entirely aware that he or she is being a, pardon my language, asshole either. So for the following questions or comments? Never EVER ask or say them again. Thanks.

“So tell me, how’re things going on Tinder? How does it work? Show me.”

A popular question amongst those who are in relationships that started waaay before the world was introduced to dating apps. They’ve never used them and you, as a lonely single girl, obviously have. So what is the world of Tinder like?

“Maybe you shouldn’t be so picky.”

The most pathetic comment of all comments. You aren’t picky at all, everyone just has to be just as lovely as you are. Or even better: lovelier.

“How’s your love life?”

I always hated this question. If I had anything romantic to tell you, trust me, I would have done so.

“Tell us that story again about that awful date you had!”

Especially when you’re seated at a dinner table with a bunch of couples and you get labeled as the single gal who’s got a bunch of juicy stories about her rowdy single life. It’s pure torture. Don’t give in to this nonsense.

“I know someone who would be perfect for you!”

Uhm, okay, why would I even want that? People in relationships seem to think that being “single” is the only thing you need to have in common with someone to make a match.

“Don’t worry, you’ll meet someone.”

I’m NOT worried. YOU’RE worried. Leave me alone.

“You’re so lucky you don’t have annoying in-laws you have to visit.”

?!?!?!?!?!???!?!?!
