this is a call to all women who just gave birth

And already fit back into their pre-pregnancy pants

I don’t know what it is but I keep coming across a bunch of posts of women who gave birth ‘yesterday’ (check out how to give birth beautifully here) and ‘suddenly’ have a flat stomach a day later. I’m not saying I don’t think they don’t deserve it, but I find it hard to wrap my head around.

I have been pregnant three times and I have also given birth three times. Three times is an average of gaining about twelve kilos. No bizarre stories about insane chocolate cravings (although I did have a thing for grilled cheese and milkshakes) and no bizarre weight gain. But still, it took me an average of nine months to get back into my pre-pregancy shape.

I breastfed my kids but whatever all those breastfeeding Jehovah’s tell you; it really doesn’t make you any slimmer. Yes, it might seem that way at first but I kept maintaing a steady extra three kilo’s. Something I researched which also happens to be a consequence of breastfeeding, is that you’re body always creates a natural reserve.

Yet somehow I keep hearing a bunch of stories about women who seem to be slimmer after just a mere three days which makes me thankful for all those neighbors and friends who complain about the struggle to loose their pregnancy weight. It seems near to impossible nowadays to be fat after having given birth.

So therefore this call to all women who recently gave birth and ‘suddenly’ fit back into a size 36. You deserve it, I’m not saying you don’t, but how about you do me and the other less fortunate women a favor and just pretend like it took you hours on end of hard work to get back in shape. Just so us regular folk don’t have to feel too sorry for ourselves…
