Why biking to work is good for you
If you have the possibility of doing so
I’m back at the office (I was gone for a short while due to my book release) and the first thing I saw when I showed up at the office were brand new bikes from VanMoof. I do almost everything in my city by bike, rain or shine, but I prefer something sturdy rather than an old piece of junk. Also, preferably with a basket in the front rather than something on the back. Personal taste, but I find them more useful this way.
These VanMoof bikes are our new office bikes and they make me extremely content. Content because I get to use them myself but also happy because it means that other people at the office will start using the bike more often too. I’m a huge advocate for using your bike to get to work (if you’re capable of doing so) and here is why:
– You’re more active than when you take your car or hop on a bus or subway.
– You’re out in the open air; comfortably on your bike, music blasting out of your earphones. Think of it as a moment to relax before your busy day at the office kicks in.
“you already look a lot healthier and more fresh after your bike ride”
– Same goes for when you head back home. Time to clear your head after a busy day at the office.
– Biking reduces your stress levels. I’ve said it before: being active is great when your head is full.
– Biking is good for your immune system.
– Usually it’s much quicker to grab your bike than take public transport (depending on the distance, obviously).
– Biking is good for your digestive system because you’re being active.
– If you’re worried that your makeup and hair are going to be ruined, wrap a scarf around your head and put on your makeup in the bathroom at your office. You actually don’t even need any makeup because you already look a lot healthier and more fresh after your bike ride.
