WHY IT’S OKAY TO FALL ASLEEP AT THE OFFICE
My nephew had a weekend job stocking shelves when he was sixteen and he would kill time by spending two hours sleeping in the bathroom. When he was kindly asked to partake in his bed time rituals at home, which didn’t surprise me. Let’s not forget, you’re getting paid to lend a helping hand, not to shut your eyes.
But apparently I was wrong. Richard Branson dropped by Sydney’s airport not to long ago to drop by for a peek chez the people who work for him. What did he see? A sleeping Virgin employee. As cool as he is, he took a selfie of himself and the sleeping idiot and captioned it with something along the lines of the poor guy needed his rest.
A nap every now and then isn’t a bad thing (check this out to see why). Incase your boss ever catches you checking out the insides of your eye, make sure to tell him or her this:
1. A nap is good for the brain
A twenty or forty minute nap will give your brain a boost. Science has shown that a power nap helps crank up the creativity and it makes you more productive. So it’s easy to catch up on that half an hour you just spent sleeping.
2. It’s better for your jet lag
Okay, this is an excuse you can only use when you travel for work. But imagine this, you’re flying to Japan tomorrow for an important meeting, then it’s a wise decision to sleep beforehand.
3. Well rested employees like their boss more
A sleeping professor at a university in The Netherlands researched the fact that it’s better for a boss to make sure his or her employees has had a good nights rest rather than letting them work overtime. It makes people more productive, happier and they’ll like you more. Want to make a bet that your boss is going to be okay with you snoozing at the office?
