WHY YOU’RE NEVER GOING TO WORK BEFORE 10 AM AGAIN

“I told you sooooo”, is what I want to tell all of my friends who never believed me. Me – not so much a morning person – have been an advocate for starting work later for years. But I was never able to get science to back me up.

Until now.

Dr. Paul Kelley is my new best friend. This professor at the University of Oxford (so not just any random guy) recommends using your brain a little later on in the day in The Telegraph. That 8:30 or 9 AM (or earlier for some poor bastards) isn’t good for you. Better yet: it’s torture. It exhausts employees and causes more stress. According to Kelley, we need to adapt the hours we start working to our biological clock.

Look, this is a guy that gets me. Comments like these from professors make me giddy. When an experienced and trained person writes about a topic like this one, or why wine is good for your figure (yes, really), I want to read it. Especially when it involves sleeping in.

”Hey May-Britt, are you reading this? Tomorrow morning we’ll be starting work half an hour later okay?”

Paul states: Before the age of 55, the circadian rhythms of adults are completely out of sync with normal 9-to-5 working hours, which poses a “serious threat” to performance, mood and mental health.” According to Paul, not only should employers, but school should adapt their times too. The result? Less people that are sick and more positive energy. Ha, isn’t that what we all want?

Hey May-Britt, are you reading this? Tomorrow morning we’ll be starting work half an hour later okay?
