The last show I saw during Paris Fashion Week happened to be the last show by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. Overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of it all and rather dazed by The News (the rumours turned out to be true, Marc will definitely leave the building…) we lingered near the exit of the Cours Carré of the Louvre. When even the last blogger had left, we went in search of solace in Café Ruc. Sipping a café crème seemed a good equivalent to the traditional coffee and cake after a funeral. Which is a little how we felt, anyway. Luckily, we met Dutch model Saskia de Brauw, fresh off the Vuitton catwalk as well as A-list photographer Alique, and together we lost ourselves in therapeutic chitchat.
Afterwards, my friend M. and I remained totally mesmerized by Der Marc. We read – or rather devoured – every interview with MJ that had appeared during the last few weeks. The thing that fascinated us more than anything else was his relationship with Harry Louis AKA Harry underscore Louis, the 25-year-old porn star who exhibits his life (yes, even when he has successfully boiled an egg) on Instagram.

Marc, quite the exhibitionist himself in the good old days, became more and more aware of the age gap every time Harry_Louis posted a picture of their breakfast in bed. And when Harry happily announced that he had received 3000 likes within 20 seconds, Marc would ask: ‘Do you care? Do you actually know these people?’
Really hilarious was Harry’s use of a ridiculous amount of emoticons. I mean, can you imagine one of the worlds top designers has just shown us his fabulous new collection and the love of his life instagrams: ‘so proud of my baby’ and ‘ we all love you Marc. Me for specific reasons, of course’. Followed by hundreds of red kissy kissy lips and happy smiling suns. Not quite the contribution to Marc’s stature, one would expect.
So we weren’t at all surprised when Marc showed Harry underscore Louis the door just one week later. Marc’s future lies open. New job, new man. While Harry shared the bad news with his 49K followers (which initiated 2385 likes from people he didn’t know), Marc straightened his back and packed his bags (Vuitton naturellement) and happily rode off into the sunset.
