DO DENIM
Do you really want to wear a skinny if you have size 46? That's entirely up to you, really. Rips and holes? Go for it. Cross on your knees? Be my guest. You won't hear me complain. I think it's all fine. I'm not going to dictate which model is most suitable for which figure. If you want to know what you can do to present your new jeans in the best possible way, read on. A pair of jeans is something you usually enter into a longer relationship with.
- Never buy a pair of jeans online. Unless you have previously bought that same model from that same brand and know exactly what you need. A new pair of jeans should always be tried on. Take your time for that. Wear it for a few minutes, walk back and forth, sit down, in short, feel if the model fits you. Again, in practice, you will enter into a longer relationship with this garment, so give a new model time to get used to your body as well.
- If you want to shorten your jeans, have the original hem sewn. Moreover, according to current fashion trends, it is advisable to roll up your cuffs so that your ankles are visible, so don't be too quick with those scissors.
- A bit of a fashionista has her jeans in different styles for different looks. Besides the model, the wash can also vary by fashion season. So stay alert. My advice is to buy at least one new model each year.
- If you know that you usually wear your jeans with heels, take those with you when you go try them on. This way, you can best assess how the pants fall and see if the length and model are in balance.
- Keep in mind with stretch denim that you buy the model one size smaller. During wear, the stretch will loosen and the model will fit more loosely. Check the etiquette for the amount of stretch that is processed in the fabric. The more elastane, the more stretch, and thus a greater chance that the model will sag. Even if there is no stretch in the model, you should keep in mind that denim stretches during wear.
Make your jeans fashion statement:
- Combine jeans with jeans. A denim shirt combined with jeans is perfectly fine. Just make sure that the washes differ in color because the intention is not for your denim look to appear as a set.
- It's back: the denim jacket... The more vintage, the better. Preferably worn with a longer skirt and your favorite motorcycle boots.
- New: The coated skinny with a leather or metallic (gold, silver, and copper) shine. Becomes extra exciting when worn with tough ankle boots and a large chunky knit sweater.
- If you wear your jeans high-water - with your ankles visible - then preferably choose the boyfriend model and wear super sexy high stilettos with it.
My personal favorite?
The boyfriend model from J.Crew with hand-painted (one of a kind) paint splatters.
Oh yes, finally...
The question of whether you can combine a tuxedo jacket with jeans? No. I'm quite strict about that. You could get away with that kind of joke in the 80s when it was still cool to rebel against things like a dress code, but we're done with that now.
