5 benefits of exercising in the morning.

Every Tuesday and Thursday when my alarm goes off at 06:45, I want to throw that thing out the window. “No way I'm getting up now to put on my sports gear for the boxing school.” After snoozing twice, I finally manage to drag myself out of bed, just late enough to hop on my bike and arrive totally sweaty at the gym by half past seven. I'm glad it's already light in the morning now; I have no idea how to manage this in winter.

Now, this is indeed a very early call to train, but otherwise, I’ll be late for work. Showering, what the f*ck should I wear, breakfast, you know how it is. I often think about working out after work, but that doesn’t work for me. Too tired, sleepy, craving dinner or whatever.

And to be honest, no matter how difficult those mornings start, after your workout I feel like I can take on the whole world. And that feeling is worth it all.

5 benefits of exercising in the morning

  1. If you've completed your workout in the morning, you feel healthy and more energetic. You have less chance and need for snack attacks that day. “It would be a shame if I let myself be tempted by sweets now; then my training wouldn't have made any sense.” That's how you might think.
  2. Maybe a bit obvious, but at least you’re done with it. And there’s more room for spontaneous eating appointments and dates. No more “sorry, I can’t, my spinning class is waiting for me.”
  3. By exercising, you produce the substance endorphin. And that gives you a happy, euphoric feeling. Well, you can't start the day better, right?
  4. If you go for a run early, it ensures that your brain wakes up. It’s also a good and calm moment to sort everything out about how the day is going to look and maybe even make a to-do list. This way, you start the day organized.
  5. Maybe not the most delicious, but exercising in the morning is good for your digestion. I don’t know, but I find that important.
