CARPET HAIRSTYLE

With last night's People’s Choice Awards, Award Season in Hollywood is officially underway. This means, in addition to polished trophies and nervous celebs, also frantic stylists and fully booked hairdressers. We fashion lovers are especially curious about which looks we will see gliding by on the red carpet. We surveyed A-list hairstylists John Nollet and Serge Normant about the seven trends in the Done Hair category.

  1. Wear a hair accessory that looks like a jewel. Think of a beautiful brooch in your hair or a diamond tiara. Jewels or headbands with a twist can make a simple look special. I bet we’ll see this on Anne Hathaway.
  2. Glamorous hair that still looks a bit messy is totally the thing. Typical for Renée Zellweger or Gwyneth Paltrow.
  3. The ponytail is allowed on the carpet. To avoid a too-casual style, make sure it’s super tight, teasing the top of your hair into a small quiff for a bit of bite. Kate Winslet dares to do this, seriously.
  4. We will see a lot of super stylish, blow-dried hair. This could suit Julianne Moore or Nicole Kidman well.
  5. The braid is here to stay. But all stylists will try to surprise with different interpretations of the Heidi. Julia Roberts has already shone once with a beautiful braid, and she might just choose that again.
  6. Think effortless chic, fresh, clean hair. A typical look for Michelle Williams.
  7. The deconstructed updo (looks messy but has taken a lot of work) is here to stay. Cameron, is this for you?
