Opening Dior store

DIOR IS AANGEKOMEN

While the rain is literally pouring down from the sky, there is a modest line of people standing in the otherwise deserted P.C. Hooftstraat at number 100. Gallant men with large umbrellas are ready to keep everyone as dry as possible, the valet parking is working overtime, and I park my bike (there has to be a difference). Once inside the unbelievably beautiful store, we have long forgotten the rain like snow before the sun. Large, high ceilings, white, lots of mirrors, fantastically beautiful light, and of course filled with the latest and newest from Dior. The guests are a mix of fashion people (think Hilmar Mulder, Cécile Narinx and Janine Breukhoven), important people from Paris, famous Dior fans (think Carice van Houten and Jeroen Spitzenberger) and the best customers of Dior, often fully dressed in, indeed, Dior. So too Sophia, a five-month-old baby who was absolutely the star of the evening in her mother's arms, dressed from head to toe in soft pink Dior clothes. Some jealousy takes hold of us when we see a few incredibly chic women diving into the wall of shoes and the cabinets full of jewelry, as shopping was also possible right away. We spoke to a woman who had just bought a bag. She came to Amsterdam with her husband especially for this opening. Shopping at Dior, then having cocktails at Momo and sleeping at the Andaz, she told us. So chic. Handsome boys are walking around serving the guests Ruinart Champagne and small bites, while in the background the music that was played during the show in Paris can be heard. This is the very first Dior store in the Netherlands, and the international allure that this business brings is something that has made Amsterdam a lot more stylish. When we go outside again, thank goodness it has stopped raining. We hang our goodie bag on the handlebars of the bike and head home with a head full of wishes and dreams. One day I will buy a bag, shoe, or piece of clothing from Dior. Echt waar.
