Do the Frida Gianini
I was quite shocked yesterday when I heard that ‘my’ Frida Giannini is leaving Gucci. But I met her once (but hey, that was in Florence at the Four Seasons Hotel where I had a room in which I could do the grapevine back and forth twice, so that makes an impression) but still, I feel a deep connection.
Because we come from the same year. Because we both really love family but also work in fifth gear. Because I wore Gucci on quite a few occasions in my life (the launch of Amayzine.com, the finale of Holland’s Next Topmodel, the one-year anniversary of Amayzine and several other moments) and because we both love Rome. She wins, of course, she was born there but Frida is definitely on my list of women you hope to befriend one day. Alongside Sophie Dahl, Queen Maxima, and Victoria Beckham, but more on that another time.
But Frida is leaving Gucci. Together with the CEO who, not coincidentally, is also her husband. Where the path leads is still unclear. I’ll let myself be surprised. To appropriately honor the great Giannini, I’m sharing the 12 things that inspire Frida with you.
So that we all become just as great as she is. And then, of course, we all become friends.
The sea. For Frida, this is the coast of Sabaudia near Rome. By the way, they have delicious mozzarella there, but that aside.
Bella Roma, Frida was born there and still stumbles over a Caravaggio she has never seen before. Shopping in Rome is also getting more fun, just look here for my tips.
Also my favorite. Real Italians almost always cook with Barilla, even tastier than fresh. Seriously.
Rock concerts. That’s where Frida drew her inspiration from…
Hotdogs in Central Park. Here, Frida and I lose each other for a moment. She can eat four of them. But I’m happy to join for the chat.
Agent Provocateur Lingerie. The most beautiful, sexiest lingerie.
Classic films. For Frida, preferably Breakfast at Tiffany’s on repeat and the Godfather Trilogy.
Vinyl. Frida’s uncle was a DJ and he gifted her 8000 LPs.
Cold white wine. Ah, girlfriend!
Pilates. She does it first thing in the morning so she doesn’t have to feel guilty in the evening about pasta and white wine.
Her kitchen. She has a black, high-gloss Boffi kitchen where she spends a long time when she has the time.
Concentration problem? Frida puts on Chopin nocturne 9 and everything will be fine.
Just like now.
