Doutzen. I met her only once. For a cover shoot for Marie Claire. It was quite a hassle, of course, because the schedule was full and Doutzen can't be on the cover of Elle one month and then on that of Marie Claire the next. Her agent Sarah Keller has a very clear media policy about that. So Sarah and I had lunch (always particularly pleasant) and thought that the December cover would be a nice moment. And then she suddenly appeared. In the large studio of Witman Kleipool. No makeup, hair in a tight ponytail, the most beautiful skinny jeans and boots, and a top from Isabel Marant. I've rarely seen anything more beautiful. That face, that skin, that hair, and that body. That's a bit too high for us ordinary mortals. But that lovely classy and comfortable clothing... we can buy that. Truly.
