You know the recipe; a splash backstage and a pinch front row. Here is life in the editorial office of May-Britt's amayzine.
The shoot
For weeks, what am I saying, months I have been planning the final shoot for Holland’s Next Topmodel. On TV we are still in the middle of it, but we creators are of course already a bit further along. Because I might get taken out by the big shots at RTL 5 if I tell you who the four remaining finalists are, I can't tell you anything about the content of the shoot. But those-can’t-tell-you-or-I’ll-have-to-kill-you-finalists were all gathered. Just here at the amayzine headquarters. It was wonderful to see them again and spend a whole day with our little group (coach Fred, photographer Dirk and all the behind-the-scenes Endemol people). We won't know who will win until the finale on October 27, but a beautiful cover is already ready for all the candidates that we will slide into our amayzine issue.
The drink
The Friday afternoon drink transformed into the mamibo. We had something to celebrate, namely. A new building (check), a fresh website (gofrow.com with an overview of all, all, ALL ready-to-wear shows) and a fall magazine with 80 interactive videos that I am really very proud of. Before the official drink started, we put art director Lucia and editor slash designer slash is-there-anything-she-can't-do Josselin in the sun. They have worked so hard, but man oh man, everything turned out so well.
The day after
With quite a glass of wine in my head and an hour too little sleep, I reported at 09:00 sharp at the Amsterdam NDSM site. Next to the hip hangout Pllek that I can definitely recommend for lunch or dinner. The goal of the day? To record a spot for the new Renault Twingo with my digital neighbors Annic van Wonderen and Cynthia Schulz. Each of us left in her own Twingo to a different shopping city. Annic ‘got’ Amsterdam, Cynthia The Hague and I headed to my hometown Utrecht. I had forgotten two things about Utrecht. The one-way traffic and the number of cyclists. Every time I smoothly swung open the door of my cozy little car, I was afraid of hitting a poor student. All in all, it was a pleasant yet somewhat exhausting day. With three containers of Indian food, I headed home. Tired, hungry, and content.
Eliminer maintenant
It was up to editor Riena of Holland's Next Topmodel and me to select the best images of the girls. Speaking of kill your darlings. That was not easy.
Packing up
This weekend will be double fun. It starts with two days of shopping and eating with my love in Antwerp. On Sunday we start early on the motorbike and we sniff with my new Renault Twingo to Paris. For fashion and love. No one has ever gotten worse from that. I will tell you all about it. Well, everything... A lot.
