When in London, do as the Royals do.
While you and I were drinking a beer or a glass of wine in a nice but brown pub last weekend, Pippa Middleton had a very different night out. Pippa can appreciate a party from time to time (much to the irritation of the British Royal Family, by the way) and on Saturday she was out and about in Mayfair, a district in London where the most expensive, beautiful, and exclusive clubs and restaurants are located. We have spies everywhere and present you her Saturday night so that you know exactly where to go on your next trip to London. Please do dress nicely in a dress and wear high heels because you certainly don't need to show up in jeans and sneakers.
The Wolseley
She didn't start the evening in her favorite hotel The Belgraves, but in the chic restaurant The Wolseley. A beautiful classic restaurant with high ceilings, black-and-white checkered floors, and many pillars of dark oak for that typical luxurious touch. On the menu, among other things, Beluga caviar (€302,- per 50 grams), grilled halibut (€38,-), and for dessert, we choose the Petit-Pot au Chocolat (€10,-).
Mahiki
After dinner, she hopped into a taxi to Mahiki, a cocktail club where Prince Harry, William, and cousins Beatrice and Eugenie are often seen. Mahiki is known for its famous clientele and relatively relaxed door policy. While you really can't get into most exclusive places in London unless you are an Extremely Important Person or bring wheelbarrows full of pounds, it seems that at Mahiki, even an ordinary mortal has a good chance of getting in. Once inside, you order the ‘Treasure Chest’ just like Pippa. All cocktails on the menu are specially created for Mahiki, but with the Treasure Chest, they gained worldwide fame. It's a large bowl full of champagne and vodka that you can share with your friends, and for €160,- it sits on your table.
The Arts Club
After Mahiki, she and her entourage hopped into the rickshaw (seriously) for the next stop: The Arts Club. Now we have arrived at the members-only clubs with a strict selection committee. To start, it costs €1815,- per year to be a member with a one-time registration fee of €2421,-. Once you are a member, there is a kind of book full of club rules, but then you have a really cozy clubhouse with several restaurants, cafés, clubs, and incredibly interesting clubmates like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Cattrall.
