I died and went to Shoe Heaven
Since I this piece was written about the newly opened Shoe Heaven in the British department store Harrods, a physical visit is high on the wish list. Lucky me that I am in London at the time of writing and yesterday I finally got to make that long-awaited visit. I mean, if something is called Shoe Heaven, then I obviously have to be there, you understand, I understand.
So off we went, to Harrods. Like a little child, I had been looking forward to this all day and let me give away the conclusion right away, I was not disappointed. The party starts on the escalator, as you see displayed shoes on every floor you pass with the sign “Shoe Heaven, fifth floor.” It is really a kind of foreplay because the more you see, the more the tension builds and the more you long for that heaven, the highlight, the, indeed.
And then you arrive on the fifth floor and all your wildest dreams come true. Instead of one large hall, the floor is divided into all small shop-in-shops. We have Chanel, Louboutin, Prada, Louis Vuitton, really everything is here. Sophia Webster, Charlotte Olympia, Givenchy, Giuseppe Zanotti and oh I could go on for hours with name dropping.
Beforehand, I was very determined to buy something. Just for the experience. But when I was finally there and turned over each shoe hopefully to check the price tag, my courage sank more and more into my own shoes. Because, expensive. Very expensive. 500 pounds expensive, so for me just really too expensive. But I already said that. In the end, I spent a good 3 hours here, looking at everything and sometimes trying on a few. For me, this was like a museum, all those beautiful shoes that were just there in real life and I could not only see them up close but also hold them and even try them on. Just like you can let my father loose in the British Museum for a week so he can endlessly look at old shards, you make me incredibly happy with a week of shoe watching.
So, all in all, if you are in London, you must definitely not skip. Shoe Heaven. Just don't get your hopes up too much about buying and be happy with just looking beforehand. They don't say for nothing, looking looking, not buying. Enjoy!
