THE BAD HAIR DAY

Sunday is such a lovely day that it doesn't matter if you turn over in bed four more times and it also doesn't matter if your hair is totally not Vavavoom. Monday, on the other hand, is a slightly different story. It's just one of those days when you'd rather still have the weekend and the damage from the weekend is often still visible and can sometimes result in a bad hair day. Nowadays, you can get away with a bad hair day, because messy hair is ultimately very in, but in disastrous cases here are 8 tips to just get through the day. Flat hair or frizzy hair; no problem anymore on Monday morning.

1. Start with braiding. Tied-up hair is after all the best solution. You wear it out of your face, making it look fresh and fine anyway. Whether your hair is flat from the heavy downpour or it’s bouncing in all directions due to the humid climate; no worries, with braids it can’t go anywhere. The best tip for braiding is to not take a brush in hand at all, because the stiffer, the better. The messier, the prettier. So, you don’t need to try too hard.

2. Dry shampoo and dust powder do their job. Little miracle products because flat and limp hair gets a huge boost from it and unmanageable, bouncy hair gets a boost that makes it sit even more undone. Best of both worlds.

3. The hat. A pretty easy solution, because you tuck all your hair under a flap, making it suddenly look very Saint-Tropez . Moreover, if the sun starts shining again, you are immediately terrace-proof because you won't quickly suffer from a sunstroke.

4. Do you have short hair? Then you get to work with a big jar of wax. A bad-hair look can be transformed into a wet-hair look in no time. That’s trendy now. With a coarse brush through it and comb it back tightly.

5. The curling iron. With it, you can still get a decent shape in your hair. Nowadays, a curl doesn’t have to be perfect, which makes it a lot easier. The advantage of the curling iron is that you get a nice wave in your hair, giving it a nice movement and thus more body. Soft waves are so beautiful and bring bad-hair back under control.

6. The bun. On top of the head. Nice and tight. Works well as a business look too. On days like today, the ultimate tip is to put a mask in your hair in the morning. It makes your hair a bit greasier, but that way you can roll the bun in very tightly and the mask can absorb well in the rain and do its job. You shouldn’t use a foaming mask, because then you’ll get a somewhat different effect.

7. A hair accessory draws attention away from your bad-hair day. Always good.

8. Cut a fringe. Quite drastic, but hey, I’m a fan, and it works very well on a bad hair day. It draws all the attention to itself, making it totally irrelevant what’s going on in the rest of your look. Moreover, a fringe is incredibly sexy, so you kill two birds with one stone.
