EVEN Better travelling
There are those people who only start packing their holiday bags an hour before departure. They plan the route to the airport during teeth brushing and the checking of hotel details is done in the train en route. I am clearly not one of the those relaxed travelers.
I start preparing at least a week before, even if I’m only going across the border for 48 hours. My clothes and shoes are prepared with military precision, and I line up all my beauty products and buy mini bottles for decanting if necessary. My ticket is printed and folded in my passport, the train timetable has been checked with at least 10 different Apps and I still end up at the station a half hour early, which means an hour too early at the departure gate. Could it be that my slightly neurotic behavior actually fuels my love for travel? All those handy inventions that make traveling life a whole lot more pleasant. So because I am such a lovely person, I have decided to share some of my lifesaving tips with you. Grab a pen and paper and take note:
Book from an incognito browser
All those lovely cookies that you have to accept every time you visit a site, they know everything about you. So if you check out a specific booking website ten times a week, they ‘know’ that you desperately want to book a ticket, and they will raise the price on your eleventh visit. That is why ticket prices change so much.
Glasses case in the bag
Not only to keep your glasses in, but also ideal to store loose iPhone cables and earphones.
Stinky suitcase
It can happen, you’ve packed and unpacked it like a hundred thousand times and once left a sweaty summer dress rolled up in the corner. Buy a box of those dryer sheets that make your dryer smell good, pop one in at the bottom of your case. Problem solved.
jewelry
Earrings and bracelets always get hopelessly tangled up. Buy a pill-box, you know with all the different compartments and put your small jewelry items in there. No more problem.
Scan scan scan
It would be extremely irritating if your passport got stolen, especially if you’re travelling Far and Wide. So always scan all your important documents and save them in your mailbox or in Dropbox. Driver’s License, tickets, hotel confirmation, insurance documents, passport, everything.
Shower cap
The most unflattering thing ever is also one of the most handy when it comes to packing. Place it around your shoe heels and they won’t make marks on any of your clothes.
Hair clips
Super handy, but one of those things I ALWAYS lose. Buy a box of Tic Tac mints, eat them up and pop all the clips in. Handy!
Pin for cash
Don’t use the Travelex places to exchange money, they charge a fortune. Rather pin at a money machine, which are usually just next door.
Bon voyage!
