Cannes, can it get any more beautiful?
Oh Cannes. Cannes, how beautiful you are! Just as we survived the fashion spectacle of the MET Gala, we can indulge ourselves again in endless beauty and beautifully tailored dresses. L’Oréal brought out all its showpieces, led by Blake Lively. Her first look was a burgundy dress by Gucci, her hair slicked back, subtle jewelry, perfect makeup – I could stare at it for hours. Her second look was at least as beautiful. White Chanel Couture, long flowing blonde hair, and white pumps. It's enough to make you feel gay. And then there was Liya Kebede in ultra-short and ultra-sexy Roberto Cavalli, Zoe Saldana in Victoria Beckham, and Sonia Rolland from Zuhair Muhad.
Just a critical note for Karlie Kloss. She came in a sort of curtain by Valentino, half transparent but with way too much fabric, I don't get it at all. It's a strange thing because Karlie is by far the best on the catwalk, but on the red carpet, she always seems to do it just right and just wrong. Such a shame. Finally, three cheers for Jane Fonda in Elie Saab. That woman is 167 years old (or so) but looks tighter and fitter than I do. Goddamn. Maybe it has something to do with videos like this and maybe I should try that too. Next year Cannes? I’ll be there.
