I honestly admit, I'm not really a museum fan. When I take a city trip, I prefer to rent a bike and ride around the city a bit. Settle down at a terrace, observe the passersby, walk in and out of a shop, and make plans for dinner in the morning; where are we going to dine?
By the way, don't let my mother hear this. In Paris, she can spend three days visiting a different wing of the Louvre every day. I’d rather put on my running shoes and run six laps around the building, before going for lunch at Café Le Marly: a great restaurant with a view of the museum. Better deal. If there's anywhere to spot models slash celebs, you have to be here. Especially during fashion week.
First a small point. Are you going here with your love? That's at your own risk. Even I would almost fall in love with the girls in the service. They are so beautiful. Just take the girl who takes the coats! I don't understand why she chose this job, because she belongs on the catwalk at a Victoria’s Secret show or in a commercial for a l’Oréal shampoo.
If the weather is nice, you reserve a spot outside on the terrace, with a direct view of the square with the famous glass pyramid leading to the entrance of the Louvre. But inside, you won't be disappointed either. In a certain spot at the back of the place, you can look straight into one of the museum halls. You’ve already seen a bit of the museum.
My favorite dish at Le Marly is a tower of tomato, avocado, and crab. Divinely delicious and very skinny proof. You can also order a really good Croque Madam or an omelet with truffle. Drink a glass of cool red wine with it. As mentioned, it is served by breathtakingly beautiful and friendly young men and women. I wouldn't be surprised if their tailored clothing comes from some expensive store in the nearby Rue Saint-Honoré. And after lunch, you can stroll lazily to the spectacular design store Colette. It's just around the corner. Hmm, now that I'm talking about it... I think I'm going to book a train ticket now.
