Harrods’ shoe heaven
We've already shouted it out loud, we're going with the team to New York fashion week. But we haven't shouted as loudly that after New York, Jet and I will be getting on a plane to go to London. That's already super exciting news, but what makes it even better is the fact that department store Harrods has opened a brand new shoe department that puts all other shoe departments anywhere in the world to shame.
Almost 4000 square meters big is heaven. Four thousand square meters, just think about it! Of course, everything is dressed up with thick carpets that your feet sink into so wonderfully, everything that isn't made of solid mahogany is probably made of marble, there are of course also plenty of chandeliers, the display cases are lined with leather, the benches you can sit on to try on are made of velvet and the shoes you can try on there range from Chanel to Louis Vuitton to Christian Louboutin and back to Nicholas Kirkwood and Charlotte Olympia.
British Vogue was also very impressed and published a delightful list of facts & figures regarding Shoe Heaven. Did you know, for example, that 75 tons of marble have been used in the store? That the construction process took about two years? That there are 150 people working who lovingly fetch every model in every color for you? That the most expensive pair in the store €5490,- costs and that it's a special edition from Valentino? And finally, there are about 100,000 pairs to choose from. I can tell you that when Jet and I are in London I will leave her for an afternoon in a Nike store and then I will indulge myself for an afternoon in Shoe Heaven. Must. Will. Buy. Something.
