Dress of gold for a little gold

When I wrote this post a week or so ago right after the Oscars this post and awarded Jennifer Garner the award for ‘Al-100-Years-No-Work-But-A-Beautiful-Dress’-dress, I was hardly aware of the price tag that came with it. Let's start with that dress. It's by Oscar de la Renta and I knew it wouldn't be a bargain, but that it costs twenty-five thousand euros is a bit much for me. $25.000! Note, we're not done yet. Because the subtle jewels she wears have a total value of FIVE MILLION dollars, bringing her total outfit to $2.025.000. Bargain. But Jennifer ranked a modest fifth when we look at the most expensive outfits worn during the Oscars. Here they come.

At number 4 we find Margot Robbie in a dress by Saint Laurent. This black piece with crystals on the bust and a large bow on the back can be yours for $12.000. The ring, earrings, and necklaces are just like those of Jennifer Garner and have a total value of $8.000.000. Total: $8.012.000.

Number 3 goes to Sandra Bullock, in a stunning dark blue dress by Alexander McQueen with draping on her hip and a heart-shaped top. Price: $40.000. The jewels are by Lorraine Schwartz and consist of earrings worth $1.8 million and a bracelet that costs around $6.4 million. Total: $8.240.000.

Yaaa now it's getting exciting. Number 2 goes to Charlize Theron. She wore a couture dress by Christian Dior with a staggering price tag of $90.000. The diamond-filled necklace ‘costs’ $15 million and the earrings $800.000. Total: $15.890.000.

But the undisputed winner of the evening was Cate Blanchett. She received a statue in a dress by Armani Privé, which, to be fair, might be one of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen. And it should cost a bit, $100.000 to be exact. She really makes a splash in the jewelry department. Earrings, a bracelet with brown diamonds, and a diamond ring have a value of $18 million. Total: $18.100.000.

Let that sink in for a moment. Also fun, adding up how much the ladies are worth together. Total total: $52.267.000. With that you could for example buy your own ISLAND in the Bahamas and still have 10 million left to buy bikinis. Totally insane of course but hey, it provides some beautiful pictures.
