MAESTRO MART VISSER

In limitation, the master is revealed, as was evident last night. Mart Visser drew inspiration for his couture show s/s ’14 from a single photo. Taken at the Côte d'Azur. Think: Sunday afternoon, the sun creates a play of shadows through the pergola, a calm sea, half past two in the afternoon. Lunchtime. Sultry. Sizzling. All the time in the world. And yes, we take a glass.

That feeling, exactly that feeling, was captured by Mart Visser in his couture show s/s ’14. He combined pleated ankle-length skirts with his signature bustier tops. Showed slender, fitted, long pants with a special slit (subtle but so sexy) on the inside of the foot. Furthermore, we saw pleated dresses, summery jackets that screamed for a princess (or perhaps a queen?). Class, quality with a hefty touch of seduction. Because what else should one wear on that sultry Sunday afternoon at the coast?

For a year now, Mart Visser has been showcasing his couture pieces intimately in his salon on Paulus Potterstraat in Amsterdam. He opens his haute couture s/s ’14 show with a small word to his guests and lets his loyal models (women who evolve with Mart, kudos for staying true to character) each show at least seven looks.

Afterwards, a glass of this or that and a moment to ‘know each other’, which one can occasionally crave.
