MAESTRO MART

In that limitation, the master reveals himself, of which case in point yesterday evening. Mart Visser was inspired by one photo for his couture show. Taken at the Côte d’Azur, Sunday afternoon, the sun created a shadow play with the pergola, the sea was calm. Think half past two in the afternoon. Lunchtime. Sultry. Sizzling. All the time in the world. And yes, a glass.

That feeling exactly Mart captured in his crinkled ankle skirts which he combined with his signature bustier tops, slim fitting smart trousers that fell graciously over the two strap heels, which had a split (subtle but oh so sexy) on the inside of the foot. We also saw crinkled dresses, summery coats that screamed for a princess (or perhaps even a queen?) to wear them. Class, quality with a heavy dose of seduction. Because hey, what else is there to do on a stuffy Sunday afternoon along the Côte?

For a year now, Mart has shown his couture pieces in an intimate salon on the Paulus Potterstraat. He said a few words to his guests and showed his loyal models (women that evaluate alongside Mart, hurrah for him being more loyal to character, the person, rather than replacing them with younger copies) each about seven looks.

Afterwards, a glass and some time to see old friends and colleagues. Which, sometimes, is just what a person needs.
