The name Julia Wolff may not immediately ring a bell, but behind the scenes, she is one of the movers and shakers in television land. As the agent of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, Hugo Borst, Jort Kelder, Loretta Schrijver, Sophie Hilbrand, and Frank Evenblij, she has a packed agenda and a representative appearance of, well, vital importance.

What a lovely piece to have on your arm.

I received the bag from dear friends. What’s special is that the giver, Rense Hekstra, designed the bag himself. Loretta (Schrijver, I am her agent) says every time she sees me with that bag: ‘what a cutie!’ But it is no longer for sale. Otherwise, I would have loved to give her one too. It can go anywhere a bag of this size is allowed.

How many bags do you have?

I have seven in use, there’s also a pair of dusty store daughters that nonetheless are not thrown away.

If I were to look at your bag from a psychological point of view, what do you think that would say about you?

That bag gives a nice picture. Organized chaos; I always know exactly what is where. 

What is always in there?

My debit card and keys. That is the absolute minimum. In second place: phone, pen, lip balm, and tissues. With that, I could suffice with 90% of the time. But instead, I also carry around 98% of the time with a sewing kit, paracetamol, charging cables, a selection of licorice and mints, a pocket knife, pens, various opened packs of tissues, a glasses case…. Should I continue?

Do you prefer classic or more trendy?

Both. As long as it is stylish. No empty buckles and other magpie stuff.

Is this bag cherished and revered and neatly stored in a dust bag or do you throw it somewhere in a corner?

I have a cabinet where they can all fit, but usually, there’s a tangle on the coat rack.

Tell me, is it true, does a good bag really open doors?

I don’t believe I belong to that league of bag carriers. Let me put it this way: so far, I haven’t needed the help of a bag. Shoes on the other hand….

Do you already have someone in mind who will inherit this bag one day?

Loretta, of course.

Which one is on your wishlist?

The small Marcie Bag from Chloé – and Dior once made a bag inspired by a saddle. If I come across that again, I’ll buy it immediately.
