Nicky Opheij is the winner of Holland’s Next Top Model. Winning was the end of the show but the start of a new life. Nicky will be taking you through her life every Saturday.
On Monday my alarm went off at 9am. I needed a bit of a lie in after a hectic but fun weekend. I had stayed over at a friend of mine, Daan. We ate together at Club Dauphine and on Saturday I trained with Dennis, the personal trainer from Touché Models and The Model House. On Sunday I went to an event in The Hague and was greeted by 5000 screaming girls who all wanted to have a photo taken with me. I couldn’t believe what was happening. I can still remember being exactly the same, ha ha!
It’s so weird spending my time in Amsterdam on the weekends, a totally different life to when I’m home in Handel. At home it’s all normal life and familiar just like it has been for the last 19 years. In Amsterdam it’s totally different, the environment and the people, which really appeals to me. That is also why I can’t wait to move to Amsterdam.
On Tuesday I went to school and had a hefty maths exam, and to be honest I don’t have a great feeling about it. In the afternoon I went to the gym and then cooked dinner with my brother Jordi.
I usually go for a walk after dinner, but a very good friend of mine just had an operation so I dropped by to visit him in the hospital. During the hospital visit, all the nurses came by to ask if they could have a photo taken with me ha ha!. Wesley, that’s my friend, said he didn’t mind and told me that all the nurses were much happier afterwards. So I did my good deed for the day.
Wednesday started early. Quickly got dressed and washed my face with wonderful products from Yentl Oil. I got these when I won HNTM. They are amazing!
I was busy at school all day, so busy that I can honestly say I’ll be happy when it’s all over. I spent a lot of time doing school work at home but luckily still had time to cook with my parents. And it was delicious.
I went for a long walk with the dog (good for my body) and then did planks. 3 x 1 minute today, and nearly died from the muscle pain, ha ha.
Thursday was a gift. My alarm went off at 7. Just as I was about to get up, I got an SMS from school that all lessons had been dropped. I jumped straight back into bed and slept for another hour.
Then I trained all morning and went for a walk. I popped into the DIY store to drop my work clothing back off. With tears in my eyes because I’ve worked there with pleasure and am going to miss my colleagues terribly.
A girlfriend of mine dropped by. We watched the HNTM finale on tape. Can’t get enough of it. I got a lovely card from my school buddies today. How nice is that! I did a few stretches in the evening and then spent a lovely evening hanging out in front of the TV with my parents and brother. I hope you get a chance to do the same this weekend.
Till next week.
