Summer Flowers is the Menno Kroon of Rotterdam. Not that I know Rotterdam that well, but I do know people who know Rotterdam very well. And so it happened that suddenly an email popped in with the question of whether we would like a cherry blossom or magnolia tree in our new office...
An artificial tree, a gift so perfect that we couldn't have imagined it ourselves. Because we can do a few things (write, type and dress ourselves score high) but green fingers, for that we refer you to another counter.

Moreover, our office, as you know is large and high and despite being full of ideas and strong personalities, there could still be some coziness added. Recently we have a planning board (which Jet keeps track of with military precision) and it has said for weeks that The Tree would come.
No idea what we were supposed to imagine about that, how big it would be exactly or if it might turn out to be a joke after all. But there was a call and in walked another nice, stylish Rotterdam guy. What is it with that city, everyone is so nice there.

First, a vase was brought in so large that I could hide in it. Then René dragged in bags of stones. I wouldn't want anyone to be able to knock the little tree over, so about a kilo or 1000 stones go in. You have to come from a good house (or just like that gentleman from Verslaafd be heavily into steroids) to knock that over.
While we were diligently typing away, a tree trunk came in and some branches were sawed off on the left and screwed on the right. Then the flowers were placed on it. How René did that, I don't know because I was making a sandwich for the boys. But that only made the surprise bigger.
To give the tree some life and seasonal feeling, René decorated it with some golden branches and man oh man, wow oh wow how we are in love. With the tree and with René. You would almost move to Rotterdam for it.
