People who know me know this: you will never find me outside the gym in sneakers. Type Birckenstocks (even if there is a signature from Céline in the sole 100 times) same goes for that. Ballerinas (Lanvin) and a flat sandal (Fendi) for the beach are fine, but I really only feel complete with a nice pair of high heels. Despite the fact that the streets of Amsterdam are a disaster for high heel lovers.
Because walking in heels is a craft, I share the tips and tricks.
Tip 1
Your feet swell during the day. So wait to try on shoes until later in the day. Especially with pumps, a good size and fit is crucial.
Tip 2
Never assume a certain size, brands differ and especially shoes that taper can sometimes require a size up from what you are used to.
Tip 3
As with everything you wear, the same applies here: Look critically at yourself. If you are on the smaller side, very high heels can have the effect of a little girl borrowing her mother's pumps.
Tip 4
Test the pumps on a hard floor. If you are in a store with a thick carpet, you can't really assess whether your new shoes are comfortable.
Tip 5
Anti-slip: When you first take your shoes out on the street, treat the soles with a sharp knife. .
Tip 6
If you are not used to walking in high heels, it doesn't hurt to practice a bit at home first. After all, you don't want to give the impression that you've had a few too many cocktails.
Tip 7
Take it easy: running will not go well for the average pump wearer. If you're in a hurry and need to move quickly from one place to another, make sure to have an extra pair of shoes in your bag that you can move in easily and quickly.
Tip 8
When going down the stairs, place your feet as horizontally as possible on the steps. This way you maintain control and prevent yourself from sliding down unwanted.
Tip 9
Preferably wear bare feet (and bare legs) in pumps. You have better grip and are less likely to slip out of your shoes. By the way, wearing transparent tights with an open-toe pump or sling back is even prohibited...
Tip 10
Be kind to your feet. Regularly get a pedicure and treat yourself to a foot bath and nourishing creams.
Tip 11
Sex factor: Sorry gentlemen, the idea that we wear heels to drive men crazy is an outdated thought. We wear heels because we feel good in them. Your posture and body awareness change, and with every step, you feel the woman in you.
Tip 12
The benefits of a heel; You look several kilos lighter, a so-so outfit gets an instant boost, and if you're not feeling great, a new pair of shoes is the best therapy.
Did you know: Feet have a décolleté? A pair of low-cut pumps where the gap between your toes is visible is considered super sexy.
