WHERE TO STAY, WHERE TO SHOP & WHAT TO BUY IN ST. TROPEZ
Those who follow my pieces have been able to read that I have exchanged Amsterdam for St. Tropez this week. If you still want to book a last minute? I would say, read and get inspired.. Where to stay.
This season you will stay at hotel l’Ermitage.
As soon as you arrive in the lobby, you understand why. A bit vintage fifties, a touch of art deco, a bit shabby chic and because it is located on a hill, a tres belle view over the bay of St. Tropez. The terrace with restaurant is in the evening the place where hip & happening meet to lounge and eat. L’Ermitage was for years a neglected building but has been revitalized by the initiative of entrepreneur and graffiti artist Andre Saraiva. Just like its Parisian sister Hotel Amour, the Ermitage is “decorated”. with suggestive photos by Terry Richardson’ and Irena Ionesco. The decor is a collection of vintage, much of it chosen by Saraiva himself. There are no televisions or phones in the room. Each of the 27 rooms is uniquely decorated and in the bathroom, you will find products from Kiehl’s. Kate Moss, Lily Allen, and Snoop Dogg have gone before you. Hôtel Ermitage: Avenue Paul Signac, St Tropez 00 33 4 94 97 52 33.
Where to shop
The fun thing about St. Tropez in August is (besides indeed being quite busy but pfff so what…) that all the big brands like DvF, Chanel, Dolce&Gabbana sell their autumn collection there. Not that I feel encouraged to buy a winter coat in the middle of summer, but still, it’s nice to get in the mood. And well, further it is full of jewelry shops and light little dresses. Battaglia (15 Place de la Garonne) is definitely my favorite store – it is an exception. Here come customers who want to distinguish themselves from the established well-known designers with a style that is a imaginative mix of rock, hippie, and western glamour.
Very inspiring. What to buy.
I find the beach of Club 55 a bit hysterical in high season, but lunching is a must. Between the courses, I always rush to the 55 Beach Boutique for
an über chic beach outfit. You can buy sarongs, towels, and baskets there, but the must-haves are the bikinis and beachwear from. Dutch designer Monica Vos with her brand PonchoBikini. Monica designs both the models and the fabrics herself, and many of her prints carry a message. If you are not near 55, no problem, luckily Monica has a webshop where you can really. buy the most beautiful kaftans, tops, and bikinis. I am in any case super happy with my pebble gray kaftan dress and silk top (see photo)., Tomorrow I will make a trip to Cannes, more about that later…..
Au revoir, Love Peggy.
