Ugly men who are secretly quite attractive
We find it an interesting phenomenon, men who according to all ‘normal’ norms and standards are not necessarily the most beautiful but still have a huge attraction to us. We call it ugly sexy, and ugly sexy can be damn sexy. At the lunch table this week, we rallied everyone to confess their ugly sexy men and the result is the list below, in random order. Jet finds him ugly but May and I are okay with it. “Because he’s just so super smart and funny and that’s ultimately more important than looks.‘ So says May and I gladly agree. I have to laugh so hard at him, I find him so incredibly funny and sharp that I would gladly go on 100 dates with him.
Yes, okay, I admit I kind of forced this one in and it’s not like I want to rip the clothes off his body immediately, but still, I dig him. It’s again because of his humor, you might not expect it from me but I really enjoy watching his show Top Gear. By the way, he apparently is a total jerk in real life but I’ll conveniently ignore that fact.
This one comes from Jet and I want to emphasize that May and I do NOT agree with this. I don’t see any sex appeal in our Herman but Jet sees it very differently: “if someone can cook so well he already has 100 points. I find him very funny, I really love his Rotterdam mentality, he is incredibly charming, he really makes an entrance [she had to laugh at this too], he knows what he’s talking about and I really don’t mind the cigar.‘
This one comes from me and so far I can’t get anyone to understand this. Olivier Sarkozy, brother of the former president of France, investment banker and known to the general public (myself included) mainly as the fiancé of Mary Kate Olsen. Let’s not beat around the bush, Olivier is just NOT the most beautiful and far from handsome. But still, you know, still. It’s the power factor. He has an enormous job and a matching suit and that is just incredibly attractive, nothing sexier than a man in a suit with a plan. On top of that, he is incredibly tall and I have a huge weakness for men who are tall because then I can always wear my highest heels without worries. You get it, I get it.
We’re starting to repeat ourselves a bit because these men are of course wildly attractive because they are unmatched funny. Although Theo Maassen is also quite a blunt jerk and Hans Teeuwen teeters on the edge of total madness, we’re okay with them. And nooooo, not both at the same time.
Just dig deep into your memory and think back to the golden years when we could watch an MTV show called Meet The Barkers, where we followed the life of him and his then-wife Shanna Moakler. Travis was the drummer of the rock band Blink 182 and he stood out because he was literally covered from head to toe in tattoos.. Furthermore, he’s quite a skinny little guy who almost exclusively wears wife beaters and hasn’t seen a toothbrush since 1996 but still, he has something. Jet, Steker, and I find him incredibly attractive. We see here a classic case of the bad-boy syndrome but we don’t care. We want Travis!
Jet and I were sliding over Travis together, now I have to leave her all alone. “It’s mainly because of his voice. Oh and that he’s not right in many ways, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s been in jail a few times. And of course, that tattooed body. It’s funny that I find him attractive because I think he’s only 2 feet tall and I would normally never find that attractive, but for Lil Wayne, I make an exception.‘ Finally, she recommends you all to check out the song Mirrors together with Bruno Mars because “then you’ll get it.”
My day starts with the men of Evers Staat Op on radio 538, just like May. And I always have to laugh out loud and just like May I think “god, what a nice man.” He seems so cozy and sweet, and also a really good father and just downright hilarious. Moreover, there’s little he can’t do and we’ve already said it, we want men with talent and ambition. Look, we could make silly jokes about him having a perfect face for radio but we won’t. Edwin, do you want to go out with us?
A classic that cannot be missing from this list. Because like it or not, Johnny is really one of the most desired bachelors in the country. By the way, he had a new fling in June, but things always go pretty quickly for him, both in and out. Just like the clothes of all his conquests because the list is long. Very long. And while, let’s be honest, he’s actually not handsome at all. Always just a bit too chubby, hardly any lips, no noteworthy jawline, eyes we don’t necessarily drown in, all pretty meh and moreover, he has something dirty about him and is quite unkempt. But here too, the bad-boy syndrome is hugely present and we all want to be The One for whom he will improve his life.
