If Annic, owner of I love fashionnews.com, wants something, it happens. Preferably quickly. Ten weeks ago she thought about writing a book about her career and voila; next week it will be in stores. She tells how to start a business at a young age, writes about her own experiences (there were ups and downs) and gives tips and tricks. Monday is the launch and even Annic is probably a bit nervous about it.
Congratulations, a book! Is there going to be a big launch party?
“Not very big, but of course very fun. I have invited family, friends, press, and a few loyal followers from my social media to come to the rooftop bar of the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel. I always say, “The sky is the limit,” so I couldn't think of a better place. Fun, right? My good friend Fred van Leer will hand over the first copy, and afterwards, everyone will also get one to take home, of course.”
Is your outfit ready for days?
“Well, coincidentally for a few weeks now. I'm usually incredibly late with that and pull a sequin dress out of the closet on the day itself, but this time I shopped something very festive online well in advance.”
And are you feeling a bit anxious about the reactions to the book?
“I'm quite critical and perfectionistic, so this book is exactly how I wanted it to be. I'm already incredibly proud, so nervous? No, not really. But I am very curious about the reactions.”
I love fashion news is now as solid as a house, but in your book, you also write that you've had a bit of a rough time.
“Last December I was overworked. I definitely spent a few weeks in bed. That was a sign that I had been going too hard. Just working, working, working, and no time for family, friends, or fun things. That's different now. I'm trying to set other priorities, exercise, and manage my time better. Now I fortunately have everything back on track and feel much better than before. A boyfriend helps a lot with that too.”
When do you kick off the weekend and how?
“Definitely with a glass of wine, and I'll have that tonight when we celebrate Sinterklaas. Cozy with my nephews, nieces, and loved ones.”
What do your Saturday and Sunday look like?
“On Saturday I'm going to buy a Christmas tree to make our new house cozy because on Sunday we're having a housewarming.”
What a lovely prospect, is the house really completely finished?
“I have a gigantic walk-in closet (of course...) and in the living room, there's a 3-meter long dining table, so we're going to invite friends over for dinner often. It's so beautifully bright and spacious, and we have a rooftop terrace.”
And? Will there be dancing on Sunday night?
“No, it's just a cozy gathering for friends and family, and I need to be a bit fresh for Monday, you know. I'll put some snacks on the table, and the rest is self-service. I'm not much of a kitchen princess; I prefer easy and not too much hassle.”
If you are completely free, what does your ideal Sunday look like?
“Then I first stay in bed for a long time with my boyfriend. After that, we go for breakfast at George, and I order Eggs Benedict. Then we flop on the couch for a series. We just finished The Killing; it was really addictive.”
Last question. The new year? Are there fun things on the agenda?
“Well, I'm looking at my boyfriend now, and he's pointing at a ring and making a gesture of a big belly, but let's not do that just yet. First, let's live together for a while. In January, I want to go on vacation. Just to recover from the hard work of the past few years.”
